Working with limited screen sizes
Written by neilAlthough each web page has been carefully laid out some pages just contain a lot of information. There are a couple of ways to avoid having to scroll up and down to see everything.
Zoom
This is a very quick and easy way to get everything into view if it just doesn't quite fit the page. Every web browser has assigned shortcut keys to Zoom In and Zoom Out.
If you are working on a laptop and don't have a numeric keypad you can use the plus and minus keys on the top row of keys to the right of the number keys.
Unless you've remapped them, the following shortcuts work in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.
Action | Shortcut Keys | Shortcut for Laptop |
Zoom In | Control-Plus | Control-Shift-Plus |
Zoom Out | Control-Minus | Control-Minus |
Zoom 100% | Control-0 (zero) | Control-0 (zero) |
Toggle Full Screen
When Zoom doesn't give a good result, for example, when the font is too small to comfortably see, you can quickly toggle the browser's full screen mode by using F11.
Experiment with Zoom and Full Screen to find what works for you.
